CranioSacral Therapy Promotes Healing Among Those Battling Cancer

Although many in the medical establishment are not convinced, increasing numbers of patients including those suffering from various forms of cancer are discovering the benefits of craniosacral therapy (CST).  This form of chiropractic treatment has been shown to be an effective alternative when it comes to treating chronic pain of many types, including migraines and TMJ (tempromandibular jaw). It has also provided relief to those who suffer from sleep disorders, dizziness, tinnitus (ringing in the ear) and even addresses psychological issues such as depression and anxiety.

CST was first developed over a century ago by a young osteopathic surgeon named William Sutherland.  He discovered that the craniosacral system which includes the brain and the spinal cord along with its associated membranes and the cerebrospinal fluid has its own pulse, similar to but independent from that of the cardiovascular system.

Stress such as accident of disease can disrupt this pulse and the flow of cerebrospinal fluid and flow of the electrical energy that runs along the paths of the nervous system.  When it comes to cancer, this disruption can exacerbate the symptoms and make it more difficult for the patient to fight the disease.

By applying light touch and subtle manipulation of the bones of the skull and spine, trained CST practitioners are able to find these blockages and clear them.  Once this natural flow of energy is restored, the body is better able to martial its resources against the disease and the symptoms and effects of the cancer are greatly minimized.

Receiving CST offers great therapeutic benefits to those battling various forms of cancer such as mesothelioma or sometimes referred to as asbestos cancer.  This rare and aggressive type of cancer often mandates harsh, rigorous treatments such as mesothelioma radiation, various forms of surgery and chemotherapy.  Calling for palliative relief, CST offers just that.

This particular form of complimentary therapy works quite well with other alternative therapies that include massage, nutritional therapy and aroma therapy, restoring balance and promoting healing.
